Top-notch together.eu volunteer:
PORTUGAL – João

I have had the privilege of being involved in EU projects before, and it made me feel very privileged. For this reason, I felt motivated to share this privilege with others and together.eu was the perfect way to do so, which to me means knowing and being a part of the European institutions.

One unique activity among those that I co-organised was our participation in Comicon, a cosplay festival, where we set up a stand. There, we were very much out of context but people interacted with us and wanted to know more about us. In some ways it was strange but we felt very good!

Looking to the future, we want to go local because we miss that connection. Therefore, we aim to move outside Lisbon. We plan to visit schools and engage in debates. This makes me feel good, as we already know the context, people, and who we are talking to.

When it comes to first-time voters, we cannot just tell them to vote; information is good, but it is not enough. Motivation is essential. We need to tell them things that inspire them, show them how voting can affect their lives, what changes it can bring, and how it affects them personally. It is about emotions, not just providing information.
My advantage is that I can interact with them personally, understand their feelings, and connect on a deeper level.
Moreover, this is my first time voting, which is a powerful and personal experience that makes it easier to connect and resonate with people, and first time voters in particular.
